The programme will focus on creating awareness and understanding of the following topics:
– The links between innovation and sustainable economic development;
– The integration of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) in modern science;
– Basic science as a global public vehicle to attaining the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Over the past 5 years, SACNASP and the Split Second Science Education Foundation’s relationship has gone from strength to strength. This partnership has made a tangible difference in the lives of many children and contributed to the National Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals. As we embrace the new norm that has been created by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are able to move forward and start again with the roll-out and development of awareness and programmes across South Africa. Through this partnership, we work to advance the awareness of the SciFest Africa theme for 2022,“Back to the Basics”, inspired by UNESCO’s “International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development 2022”.
