Join a “show and tell” all about environmental chemistry!
Through a variety of educational and entertaining experiments, learn more about how humans depend on chemistry, and the role chemistry plays in securing a sustainable future. Clean combustion, analysis methods including electric arcs, flame, and simple colour-based testing will be demonstrated as Dr. Ging walks you through environmental zones and the interchange between them. The demonstrations are relevant, interactive and some are rather scary!
Dr. Glentwyn Rubidge AKA Ging
Interested in chemistry from age 5, schooled at Union High in Graaff Reinet, and studied a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry1987(PE technikon) to doctorate level 2004(Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University).
Interests: environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, engagement activities (2010-present)
Hobbies: freediving (12 National records), boating, traveling, cleaning dirty water – pools, effluent treatment etc., pyrotechnics
Family: married with 3 children
Pets: 5 dogs, 4 cats and a 30 cm volcano.
