Sophumla was established in 1989 by local unemployed women from Peddie in the Eastern Cape. Its initiative was through the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture who provided the company by conduct sewing and beading workshops. Sinqa has traveled all over the world to exhibit in festivals such as Ethiopia, Ghana, Venezuela and local festivals. The business specialises in traditional necklace and telephone wire craft.
