Dr Jeanita Pritchett is joined by Dr Stephanie Ryan, chemist and author of ‘Let’s Learn About Chemistry’. In this session, parents and learners will learn how to make their own ice cream using simple ingredients found in the kitchen. Essentials include milk/dairy-free milk alternative/half and half, ice, Zip-lock bags, salt, sugar, vanilla extract, chocolate or strawberry syrup  is optional

You will need:
½ cup (125 mL) of Half & Half (or milk or non-dairy alternative)
1 tablespoon (15 mL) granulated sugar
½ teaspoon (5 mL) vanilla extract
8-10 tablespoons (~1/2 cup or 125 mL) salt
Sandwich size bag (small plastic zip bag)
Gallon size bag (large plastic zip bag)
Toppings optional: chocolate or strawberry syrup, sprinkles, etc…
