Winter has come to the lands and despite the shadows and fears in the artist’s mind, the gold of the coldest South African season is a reminder to be fully present in the moment and to strive to find the beauty in the everyday. Jenny Reyneke’s little works are a language of love for Africa and its people. “Whenever things during lockdown become too much, I paint these studies of our home on a farm in Boons, just outside Magaliesburg. They are 19cm x 19cm oil landscapes on woodblocks, so they are easy to carry into the fields.” Placed on a shelf, they are prayers in a row.

Over the Hill
The Heart Knows
Rhythm of Presence
Layers Beneath
Though There be Storms
I Dwell in Possibility
Field of Gold
Possibility
Anything Can Be
